Studios Inc hosts UMKC events this weekend

HAYA FLYAfilm flyaThis weekend Studios Inc will be hosting two UMKC  events. Tonight The University of Missouri Kansas City’s GlobeMed organization will be holding an art auction, showcasing work from student artists at 7 PM. All proceeds will be donated to fund the construction of a health center in rural Uganda. Saturday December 13th The University of Missouri Kansas City’s Student Film League will be hosting the first annual student film celebration. This event is a collaboration between the film students of UMKC and KCAI, it will be located in the Cosmic Cowboy’s studio at 6 PM. Both events will be free and open to the general public.

In mid-April, Kansas City artist Robert  Bingaman showed slides and talked about  his work as part of the Nerman Museum  of Contemporary Art’s Third Thursday  visiting artists presentations.

The next thing Bingaman knew, the  museum’s executive director, Bruce  Hartman, invited him to do a show —  right away. Hartman was captivated by Bingaman’s new swimming pool paintings — presented as luminous blue geometric shapes surrounded by (more…)

Resident Artist: Barry Anderson featured in “Sum of Us” Exhibition

Barry Anderson’s two recent works, Totemic Sonar and Totemic Ping, are featured in the group exhibition Sum of Us at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts. The exhibition runs through June 2014 and will include works from six artists from the Kansas City area.
